The last day of the WUCC is over for Bad Skid and the last games are played. There is a strange feeling within the team, anywhere between being proud of a good tournament and being sad about the one big struggle.
Our first game of the day was a semi-final of the bottom pool against sublime from Australia. Happy to not play a team from Europe again we started on offense and scored immediately. The Defense did the same, so the momentum was on Bad Skids side, right from the beginning. The D-line was on fire getting more and more blocks, but struggled to convert them into points several times. This seemed to be the only problem so far, as the O-line managed to score each point very calm. In the end, the scoreboard showed a 17-12 win for Bad Skid. This meant, playing game for 25th place against Euforia from Columbia.
No need to say, that this was kind of a revenge for us, because Communidad el Oso, the team we lost to so sadly, is from Columbia, too. We wanted to make things better. We wanted to stay calm on offense, and put some pressure on them in the defense. To keep that short: We mostly did this. The Columbians played a really good offense, but we got the blocks we needed. Even though we again did convert too less of them, it was enough to win the game, because the offense had a fantastic game, giving Euforia only one break at the end of the game.
Now the WUCC is nearly over and we finished on place 25. The fact, that this is the worst possible placement you could reach with only one defeat, is somehow the best way to describe the bad luck we had. Nevertheless we managed to regain our self-confidence and made the best out of the worst situation. We again would like to thank everybody who found words of consolation for us. Thank you all, for cheering for Bad Skid in any given situation. If we are up, or down, playing for gold or just for honor, that’s simply amazing. So let this be the last thing to say about worlds:
Bad Skid – Now it’s cheering for you!
